Listing the term "Pastafarian" which claims to represent a parody religion amoung a list of otherwise genuine religions in everyones profiles on tribe.net is racial and religious discrimination and hate speech. The term "Pastafarian" is a tongue in cheek "pun" that perpetuates the bigoted discrimination and marginalization of Rastafarian people who are members of the serious Rastafarian religion by altering the name of the Rastafarians and the Rastafarian religion in a diminutive manner. Using a mockery of Rastafarian's in the context Tribe does contributes significant momentum to the serious and harmful idea that Rastafarianism is a false religion (not that it is a religion that is not true, But that it is not a religion at all) Which is a factor in the ongoing persecution of Rastafarians. Something augmented by the fact that Rastafarianism is not listed even though a number of Tribe users are Rastafarians. This can be seen as racist because the common current of racial oppression endured by the people of the racial background of most Rastafarians is can be logically infered to be a contributing factor in the lack of consideration implicit in Tribe giving platform to a mockery of the religion as it did. In other words, Buddhists for example would not have been disrespected and discriminated in the way Rastafarians were because most Buddhist are Asian as opposed to the Rastafarians who are mostly African. Even without elements of racism, The terms listing in tribe profiles is an example of religious discrimination and poor taste. The term should be removed immediately, and Tribe.net should apologize to its users for the mistake.
Why people who claim to be Rasta's have tolerated it and allowed me to be further belittled in my effort to protect the intergirty of I and I, I will never overstand.

Re: The Truth about Tribe
Thu, February 21, 2008 - 6:58 AMBlessed love bredren and sistren!
I agree that the mis-representation of Rasta on Tribe is offensive and sad...
I also feel that Tribe is a way for us all to connect without having to weed out the Babylon people from MySpace...
Is there any way some of us could contact someone in Tribe to possibly have that changed so it may quit causing strife in our spirituality?
I believe that there has been a post like that here before, and it obviously causes anger and pain to many members...
Anyone have any ideas on who to contact?
Jah bless, guide, and protect all my Tribe Bredren and Sistren...
One love and Nuff respect to all! -

Re: The Truth about Tribe
Thu, February 21, 2008 - 4:40 PMYou can post up in Brainstorm or send a letter to help. I'm pretty sure they dont want to hear from me. The whole thing is so contrived because the actual name of that "religion" is "flying spagetti monsterism". This is something you should be aware of if you get involved. Its really indefensable what tribe did taunting us, but they will probably try to make you feel too sensitive for asking them to show some raspect sameway.

Re: The Truth about Tribe
Tue, February 26, 2008 - 5:35 PMIt doesn't surprise me that this term would be used. The shallowness is a reflection of the youth culture's inability to go beyond the superficial, hence mocking that which should be given proper respect. -

Re: The Truth about Tribe
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 10:13 PMeli-jah, thank you for raising consciousness.
reading your thread, i have one comment, which i mean with highest respect.
what you have written is concise and good. from what i overstand, "rastafarianism" is not a part of rasta culture, because "isms" are a box that is not jah-given.
"Something augmented by the fact that Rastafarianism is not listed even though a number of Tribe users are Rastafarians."
this right?
religious discrimination is always in poor taste, but raising one's own consciousness to open heart for those that have not acquired the rich taste of respect is something worth teaching. the only cure for ignorance is education, not tolerance.
much respect

Re: The Truth about Tribe
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 9:33 AMWhy would any Rasta seek recognition from Babylon ?
Rasta is Rasta, no ism, i n i know that
If i see someone calling their ego Rastafarian, then i n i would know that person is not clear about Rasta
Rasta is a Mystical Revelation for the Mystic, and business for others, including some Rasta's. Just like almost any other type of spiritual path in this world of confusion. Rasta also has its confusion of its own.
Who can stand 100 % Clean to make judgement ?
Only JAH can make judgment of who lived Ital and who did not.
Wanna trow a stone at this Babylon Tower, go ahead I save i Fiya for other matters.

Re: The Truth about Tribe
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 2:17 PMahh, the Tribe star
I received that Star bc i did gave a one time small $ donation to tribe.net bc i though it would be a good idea to offer back something of value in return for what i have gotten from here. There where having some hardware problems here (i think they still do). That was a the very start when they asked, maybe bc i could have been one of the first that offer some economic support they left the star. You can email them and ask. Im not paying anything to Tribe since that one time small contribution (i think it was $10) There must be something wrong (well there are many in this web) bc i should not have that star, since i am not paying the monthly fees requested for that.
BTW, that "star" not does not make i a sheriff or an tribe advocate.
