InI was simply wondering what all of my Brethren and Sistren think of how tattooing and Rasta go together....InI know in the Bible, it is said that you should not mar the Temple of the body. InI is torn about this....there are many tattoos on my body and I feel that it is still a holy temple for Jah the Most High....InI's teacher says that my body still is a temple, tattoos or no as long as the Rasta life and beliefs is followed with the heart.....
Peace, Respect and Jah blessings to all....

Re: Tattoing the Body and Rasta Livity
Sat, December 30, 2006 - 9:26 PMThis is a good time to reason, sister, and look back. The reason why the Jews were instructed not to mark their bodies is because there was a (Egyptian?) custom of tattooing the body before burial or as religious custom. I think it is safe to say that you can not only double-check the scriptures, who these commandments were written for, when, and why. What you did before your conversion has little signifigance to who you are today, lest as a testimony. This is my outlook on tattooing, but as a follower of Jah (more and more every day!) I believe that you keep the meaning and motive righteous. Many rastas have the Conquering Lion tattooed on them. Great show of integrity and walking lightly sister. Last but not least, be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is saying to you- let Jah be your ultimate guide. Only through prayer and supplication shall we truly conquer evil!
Inity, one love, and blessings to all true believers as we celebrate Emmanuel's birth and this coming New Year!!!
Bless UP!!! -

Re: Tattoing the Body and Rasta Livity
Wed, January 3, 2007 - 12:22 PMBlessed Love,
I've reasoned on this with many Ras when I was young. Some said it was against the bible, some said it was enhancing their temple. It came down to what His Majesty said when he was commenting on art. He found art, and the many forms there of, were expressive of a human's abilty to create and a positive thing. JAH bless. I personally have tattoos that are blessed art pieces. I have a bredren who was told by JAH in a dream to tattoo his face with sacred symbols and tribal art. Its up to you how you wish to honor the Most High. JAH guide and protect.
